About Us

The SOM Sickle Cell Foundation is a not for profit, Non-Governmental Organization based in Abuja-FCT. Established in September 2021, and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT/No.165884) and registered with the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) with TIN No.: 24029467-0001.

The Foundation was founded by Mallam Shehu Olaitan Mohammed a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, former General Manager/CFO at the Daily Trust newspaper and a sickle cell patient himself.

The SOM Sickle Cell Foundation objective amongst others is to increase the general awareness on sickle cell disorder, improve the well-being of patients by providing them access to healthcare and other enhancing factors for better living.

As part of its public engagement and advocacy activities and in preparation for its National Dialogue on Better life for persons living with Sickle Cell Disorder, the SOM SICKLE CELL FOUNDATION paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Communications Commission on Thursday 3rd November, 2022
